On Saturday, September 8th, a new attraction will open in Tulsa, Oklahoma that is sure to become a marquee landmark in the entire state: The Gathering Place.
Sprawling over 100 acres, The Gathering Place (2650 S John Williams Way E, Tulsa, OK 74114) is a park that rivals any park that we here at OkieDads have ever come across. There are splash pads, playgrounds, climbing nets, skate parks, boats, restaurants, nature trails, and a lawn that will host national touring artists. Honestly, if you can imagine it, it’s probably at The Gathering Place.
The focal point for most families will be the Chapman Adventure Playground, a five-acre(!!!) playground that is designed to grab hold of your child’s imagination and let it run wild. Complete with giant climbing towers, slides, water features and even a sandbox, the playground will have your child believing that they have been whisked away to a different land!
When you get hungry, there’s no need to leave The Gathering Place, and there are options for every food craving and budget. The Patio offers quick service dining options and seating under the shade of the trees. The Redbud Cafe will feature coffees, ice creams and candies, perfect for those needing a quick snack or energy boost. And if you’re looking for something a little more upscale for a date night, the Vista at the Boathouse which will offer fine dining at reasonable prices, and is close enough to Peggy’s Pond that you can grab a paddle boat and enjoy the water after your meal.
The QuikTrip Great Lawn is a giant field that will play host to some incredible events. Opening the park on September 8th, The Roots will be playing a free concert at 5pm. You may be familiar with their work as the house band on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Other notable bookings include The Swon Brothers, Lisa Loeb, Maddie + Tae, Kirk Franklin, and Disney’s Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve!
Speaking for everyone here at OkieDads, we are thrilled that this is opening up in Oklahoma, and we hope that you are too! We can’t wait to get out and cover events and adventures at The Gathering Place for years to come.
