There’s nothing worse than planning for something fun and exciting to do outdoors with your kids, and then you check the forecast to learn that your plans are about to be quite literally washed out. Rain can put a damper on your fun – IF you’re not prepared.
We want to make sure you are prepared for whatever weather may come, so here are 5 things to do on a rainy day in Oklahoma City:
- Science Museum Oklahoma.
If you haven’t been to the Science Museum in a while, you will be stunned with the upgrades that this facility has made over the course of the last two years. Highlights include the Curiosity play area, and the Segway Obstacle Course where your kids can learn how to ride a Segway.
- Museum of Osteology.
When my 4 year old first saw Peppa Pig Goes to the Museum, she was fascinated with the dinosaur bones that George wanted to see. Now, right here in our backyard, we can see some prehistoric (and some modern) bones at the Museum of Osteology – a museum dedicated to bones!
- National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Do your kids like to play dress up and pretend that they’re in a world away from their norm? Look no further than the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The Children’s Cowboy Corral exhibit allows your kids to put on a pair of boots and a costume and enjoy pretending like they’re in the wild wild west.
- Hurts Donut.
Seriously, what kid doesn’t love going to get donuts? To be honest, we can’t think of a better place to get donuts than Hurts (see: 4 Year Old Food Reviews: Hurts Donuts). From the Cookie Monster to the Cereal Killers, there is a donut in this shop that is sure to delight everyone in your family.
- Breakaway Indoor Playground.
If you haven’t been to this 3-story playground, your kids are missing out! Get up early and visit Breakaway Indoor Playground, as they are almost certain to reach capacity before lunch. Your kids will enjoy sliding, climbing and leaping into the foam pits in this seemingly endless maze of fun!
