Northwest Oklahoma City’s restaurant scene continues to grow as Industry Gastro Lounge prepares to open it’s doors this week, and my wife and I were able to get an exclusive first look (and an amazing date night in the process) on Friday.
Industry Gastro Lounge is unmistakable from the road as you approach it, with a very industrial (a pun, perhaps?) look and feel to it. The building’s size and style, filled with metal and chrome structures and fixtures, is characterized by its size and strength, hence the name “Industry”. Approaching the entrance, we admired the grand outdoor wrap around patio, which provided an abundance of table and lounge seating. There’s even an area for play while you wait for a table, and who doesn’t love a game of corn hole or jumbo Jenga?
The menu is a modern gastropub fare, and everything we saw looked amazing. For an appetizer, we grabbed an order of the Boneless Honey Barbecue Wings, which were served with a side of ranch dressing that my wife could not get enough of. The appetizer menu also featured Tornado Nachos and Thunder Fries, so if you have an out of town guest or someone looking for something “local”, Industry Gastro Lounge is setting themselves up to be just the destination for those occasions.
For our entrees, we grabbed the Chicken Tacos and a Cheeseburger. The tacos were topped with lettuce, tomato and feta cheese, giving it a little twist of modern culinary trend to an Oklahoma favorite. The cheeseburger, which is a double cheeseburger by the way, was grilled to perfection. We both ordered fries for our side – I chose classic fries and my wife chose the sweet potato fries, and we both agreed that the sweet potato fries won. If you’re looking for a unique take on fries, Industry also offers an option called “Sidewinder Fries” which was described as potato wedge curly fries.
If you’re looking for something fancier, or perhaps you’re just wanting to impress your guests with something a little more elevated than burgers and tacos, Industry’s menu also includes fish and steak options, both of which sounded absolutely incredible. Or perhaps you’re just needing a place to knock down a few beers from their selection of local and brand name taps while you watch the game from one of the many TV’s that are always within eyesight no matter where you sit. Industry is just the place for that, too.
When all was said and done, our bellies and hearts were full to industrial proportions. Whether you’re planning date night, guys night or any other social gathering, Industry Gastro Lounge will not disappoint.
