With the holiday shopping season finally upon us, we think it’s important for you and your loved ones to take some time for yourselves and to relax and unwind from the busyness of life. Today, we want to introduce you to a place you may have heard of before: The Float Spa at Classen Curve.
The Float Spa is a facility which offers floatation therapy as well as massage therapy, both of which are designed to help you focus on relaxation and meditation. When I first heard about floating, the concept confused me but everyone who tried it came out raving about how great it was, so I decided I needed to try it for myself. Here is my experience:
Each room at The Float Spa consists of a changing area, a caddy with supplies (ear plugs, cut protection, etc), a shower with shampoo, body wash and conditioner, fresh towels, and the float tank itself. The facility was immaculately clean, and The Float Spa prides itself on keeping a clean and sanitary spa.
A float session starts off by taking a shower, rinsing all of the oil and hygiene products off of your body. After a quick rinse, you open the door to the float tank and enter the pool and close it behind you. The water is only about a foot deep, but with a dense amount of epsom salt in the water, as soon as you lie down your body floats to the top effortlessly. The water is set to a temperature that is the same as your body, so when the water stops moving from where you entered, it is almost as if the water disappears and you feel like you’re floating on a cloud.
While you’re in your session, you are given your choice of colors to change the room to (for example, most people find blue and purple calming, so they can dim the lights and change them to those colors), and you are also given the option of music to play while you are in the tank. The music is what you would find at any spa, or if you wish, you can bring your own. Both the lights and music are controlled by buttons in the tank, so you can choose to float with lights and/or sound, or neither at all. My perfect combination was with music in a pitch black tank.
Floating provides a number of benefits that keep clients coming back for regular sessions, which can be purchased from The Float Spa at Classen Curve in either single sessions or multi-float packages. These benefits range from improved mental focus (much like meditation), decrease in stress and anxiety, pain and inflammation relief and improved sleep quality. It truly is an experience like no other.
After your float you take a shower, rinsing the salt off of your body. For those who need a little extra time to get ready, there is a vanity room stocked with products to help make you presentable to the public again. Once dressed, you are given the opportunity to enjoy the post-float room. This area was two plush chairs and a couch, and had a complimentary beverage bar with bottled water and tea to help continue the mood of relaxation.
The Float Spa at Classen Curve will be one of our new holiday escapes, and we are sure that you and your wives will enjoy it as well. For information on The Float Spa and to book your float + massage for yourself or as a gift, visit them online at http://www.floatthecurve.com
