10 Things to do in 2019

As you begin to think about your resolutions, we want to encourage you to make quality time with your family one of your key priorities in this new year. With that in mind, here are 10 things to do in 2019 with your family that we think will leave memories that will last a lifetime.

  1. Visit The Gathering Place
Highly praised and loved by everyone who visits, Tulsa’s The Gathering Place is something you must visit to truly appreciate. There are slides, tunnels, swings and apparatuses that will thrill kids of all ages. (Check out more information here.)
  2. Try a new Restaurant
Let’s be honest, your family is getting tired of the same old places you’ve been eating at for years, and you’re having a hard time coming up with new ideas. A quick Google search for “OKC New Restaurants” can snap that dry spell! Get out, try something new, and let us know how it went!
  3. Escape The Lost Dutchman’s Mine
When we visited The Sanctuary Escape Games last year, we had no idea what we were in for. What we discovered was a family friendly activity that has kept us talking about it constantly to friends and family. Does your family have what it takes to escape?
  4. Ride the Oklahoma City Streetcar
Oklahoma City’s newest and most visible attraction is the downtown Streetcar. Now, I’ll be the first to tell you that I was critical of this project, but having ridden it a few times now, I can tell you that I enjoy it and will use it more than I expected to! Where will your journey take you?
  5. Grab Dessert
While you’re on the Streetcar, hop off at the Midtown/SSM Health stop and drop into Insomnia Cookies for some of the most amazing cookies the city has to offer. Every cookie served is warm and gooey and is going to leave you wanting more.
  6. Climb, Zip and Slide
I’m always amazing how many people know about the Riversport Adventure downtown, but have yet to visit and climb the massive 80 foot Sky Trail, or have partaken in the Stand up Paddleboarding. When the temperature rises, schedule a day for your family to get down to the Riversport Adventure.
  7. Take in a Thunder Game
There’s very little in Oklahoma City that matches the energy and excitement of going to a Thunder game. From the on-court action, to the dining, to the kids activities, there is literally something for everyone. (Save $20 on your first order at SeatGeek by clicking here.)
  8. Make a Hole in One
Top Golf has been a hit for families, friends, co-workers and date nights, and if it’s been a while since you’ve visited (or if you’ve never visited), 2019 is the perfect time to get back in the game. The facility is climate controlled, so don’t wait for the perfect weather to get out and play!
  9. Ride the Wheeler Ferris Wheel
Our favorite attraction in 2019 was the Wheeler District Ferris Wheel, and we think that you and your family will love it too. Even if you don’t buy a ticket to ride (which you absolutely should), the Wheeler District has food, games and fun that will make this your favorite spot too.
  10. Asia – in Oklahoma City
With the Oklahoma City Zoo opening Sanctuary Asia, and the city’s Asian District not far from the Zoo, take your family on a cultural adventure this year! Starting at the Zoo’s newest attraction, take in the sights and experience that Sanctuary Asia has to offer – and then go grab a meal down in OKC’s Asian District. It’s like an international getaway, no passport required.
